{"id":498,"date":"2016-06-28T03:18:58","date_gmt":"2016-06-28T03:18:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/?p=498"},"modified":"2016-06-28T03:29:09","modified_gmt":"2016-06-28T03:29:09","slug":"the-7th-annual-camp-and-combine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/?p=498","title":{"rendered":"The 7th Annual Camp and Combine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>June 25, 2016 Killeen, Texas<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday campers and local celebrity football players filled Leo Buckley Stadium, for the 7th time.\u00a0 Children had the chance to learn from their local stars of the community.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day Johnny &#8220;Lam&#8221; Jones, Romance Taylor, and Roy Miller visited McLane Children&#8217;s Hospital to visit the teen center where Roy Miller was surprised by his jersey being prominently displayed in the teen lounge.\u00a0 The group learned how the important the lounge\u00a0 was to the kids and talked about how special the children were that they visited. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-501 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_0509-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"RM McLane's\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_0509-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_0509-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_0509-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_0509-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_0509.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Miller shared some thoughts: &#8220;what struck me the most was that some kids were on hospice and made it their life goal to improve the teen center, how selfless, courageous, wise, and inspiring&#8230;.Our buddy that got in the car accident (from a drunk driver) and checked on everyone else in his family before realizing he had a broken leg. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-502 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_0508-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"RM\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_0508-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_0508-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_0508-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/kidsadvantage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_0508.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>It can be easy to forget, how we sometimes take parts of life for granted, but when you get around the personalities of these teens, you realize they truly taking advantage of the most important qualities a human can posses; being fully present in time. They smile through it all and I will always remember that.&#8221; The Accumulative Advantage Foundation will be donating some games to McLane Children&#8217;s Hospital&#8217;s teen center. For our volunteers, our foundation has fought for years to have this kind of collective support from you, we do not take it lightly. Your support truly touched our hearts. It takes a village to raise a child, as you know we are creating a cycle of successful men and women who will eventually COME BACK and GIVE BACK to their community. Join our efforts as we intend to expand our camps across the world, adding another camp next year in North Texas, bringing our total number of camps to four.
